What does the Government think?
Panchthar-Ilam-Taplejung Red Panda Protected Forest is one the most biologically- diverse area, where it has been nationally recognised as an important area. Even the Nepalese government agrees! This area is crucial since there are lots of other endangered species. It also contains 25% of Nepal's red panda population.
Also according to the Government of Nepal forest legislation, 'any community forest can declare a portion of their managed land as “protected”. Our goal is to create the Panchthar-Ilam-Taplejung Community Forest Conservation Union, a network of all community forests bordering the proposed Panchthar-Ilam-Taplejung Red Panda Protected Forest.'

To protect, reproduce and increase the species of red pandas! For example WWF are trying to save the red pandas by doing everything they can in their power to protect the red pandas habitat. Hoping to reduce habitat lose and fragmentation!
What do the locals think?
Most people believe red pandas are adorable animals that needs to be saved! There are not only at risk when they are all grown up but in the first 4 weeks, the cubs have a 50% mortality rate! Many people wants to support this species and do what they can.
